Beeston Gardens was a community regeneration project located to the South of Leeds City Centre. Much of Beeston traditional industry and fabrication works have closed leading to high levels of deprivation, with indicators for health and economic activity lower than the rest of the City. The decline of economic opportunities has led to high levels of empty housing and unoccupied commercial buildings. Most of the housing stock is late Victorian and early C-20th terraced housing.

The project, proposed punching through three terraced houses to create a community run ‘Pocket Garden’ with communal spaces for social gatherings and events. A new glass ceiling allowed natural light to illuminate the space.
