First Avenue is a 1970’s detached stone house located in the small village of Bardsey in the north east district of Leeds city centre. The clients bought the house after seeing its potential for modernising and transforming into their new family home.

The project involves removing an existing outdated rear conservatory and replacing it with a new larger (footprint) two story rear extension along with a modified ground and first floor plan transforming the house into a new modern family home. A new workshop at the front of the house provides additional work space for their business.

The new extension along with the existing stone house will be clad in charred larch planks (Shou-Sugi-Ban) to create a water resistance surface and dramatic finish.
